Liverpool City Council (Council) and South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) are seeking to appoint a Senior Healthy Places Urban Designer for a period of two (2) years. To be suitable for the role, you will be a qualified, experienced, and skilled Urban Designer, Architect, Landscape Architect, or Urban Planner, who has developed a strong interest in healthy placemaking and making healthy decisions easy, through effective Urban Design.

 

This position is co-located between Council’s City Design and Public Domain team (4 days per week) and SWSLHD’s Population Health team (1 day per week).

 

The purpose of the position is to deliver Urban Design projects and programs of work, with a focus on embedding healthy placemaking principles into the planning and infrastructure work that Council undertakes, that will lead to long term health benefits for the communities within the Liverpool LGA.

 

Key outputs for the role include (but are not limited to) the following:

 

  • Preparing strategic design documents (e.g. policies, plans, strategies, studies, guidelines and manuals) that integrate and promote healthy placemaking principles;
  • Completing referrals for Development Applications, with references to healthy placemaking principles;
  • Providing specialist advice and input into planning and infrastructure projects that are being completed by other teams within Council, the NSW Government, and/or other organisations;
  • Preparing Concept Plans, Project Briefs and other project management documents, to guide the execution of infrastructure projects that achieve healthy placemaking outcomes, by other teams in Council; and
  • Preparing grant funding applications, for infrastructure projects that will be executed by other teams in Council.

To be suitable for the role, you will need to be practical, outcome-focused, possess exceptional stakeholder management skills, and have demonstrated ability to manage a complex and dynamic workload. You will also need to demonstrate a high level of written, verbal, and graphic communication skills, including competency in the use of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software packages (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator).

The salary will be dependent upon the relevant skills, experience, and competencies of the successful applicant.
